What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?
Platelets are blood cells that participate in coagulation of blood. Normally, your blood contains only 6% of platelets. But in Platelet Rich Plasma the concentration of platelets is 94%. That creates a powerful cocktail of seven growth factors. These growth factors promote healing, tissue regeneration and renewal. PRP therapy for injuries is now used in Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Neurology and Neurosurgery. PRP is similar in its action to stem cells that are pluripotent (super powerful) and are able to re-grow damaged tissues. Cosmetic surgeons discovered the benefits of PRP and now are offering it to their clients. Celebrities, like Kim Kardashian, popularized PRP under the name “Vampire Facelift” or “Vampire Facial”.
How is it done?
The patient’s blood is drawn in the office. It is processed through our top of the line centrifuge, which yields 94 % of platelets! Your face is numbed with a lidocaine containing cream for 15 minutes. After that PRP is applied to your face and gently injected into your skin with a microneedling system. There is no or minimal discomfort. After the procedure it is normal to experience some redness, inflamed appearance and tenderness. It should subside the next day. The standard recommendation is to repeat the procedure at least three times with a 4-5 week intervals for full effect. Repeat PRP once to three times per year to enjoy long lasting rejuvenating effect.
PRP is also the best filler for nasolabial folds, wrinkles, under eye area/tear troughs and flat cheeks!
Results
Although results vary from individual to individual, you will notice a complete transformation of your skin. Your skin will increase its elasticity and firmness. Precautions
Since the platelets come from the patient’s own blood, there is absolutely no possibility of infection or other side effects. Please do not take any anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen, naprosyn, Motrin, Advil, Aleve or aspirin. You may take Tylenol or homeopathic pain relievers. If you are pregnant, you will have to wait until the end of pregnancy and breastfeeding.
